Eloquent Magazine

Eloquent: A Queen’s Tragedy is a couture fashion magazine inspired by the Star Wars character Padmé Amidala. The project examines her ability to confront fear throughout the trilogy with grace, strength, and enduring hope. Fashion, lighting, posing, and makeup are used intentionally to translate this emotional narrative into a visual form. The magazine was fully hand-crafted, with custom-made props incorporated to reinforce the concept and elevate the storytelling.

The looks were styled and constructed through fabric draping on the model, creating the appearance of complete garments without fully sewn construction. Several props were refinished and spray-painted; the following video documents the process of reconstructing and redesigning an existing Padmé costume headdress.

The magazine also required a letter mark. After finalizing the name and experimenting with the selected typeface, I was drawn to the form of the letter Q and chose to emphasize it as a defining visual element. This led to the name Q Mag, which became the foundation for the letter mark designed in Adobe Illustrator. The magazine was envisioned as an editorial platform centered on female characters in film. This concept informed the letter mark design, which was intended to feel elegant and refined.
